What

Quality Music : Perfect Sound : Friendly Vibe - This pretty much sums up what the BIG:RED:BUS crew are all about and why their events are proving to be ever more popular amongst the lovers of underground electronic dance music. These monthly nights are on every first Saturday of each month and showcase the best of the techno, progressive and trance genres.

So what’s so special about these parties? Firstly, the crew only ever use Funktion One sound systems which are increasingly seen as the best that you can lay your ears on. Then they select the finest DJs and producers available to make sure that the dance floor is never anything but packed. These may well be established artists playing their latest unreleased tunes or new and emerging acts who may be making their Melbourne debut. You will always find a fair mix of ladies and gents on the decks too – mirroring the equally mix on the dance floor.

Anyone would feel at home at these events, from 18 to 80, whether man, woman or alien. The vibe is incredibly friendly with a positive energy of excitement with relaxed undertones. It’s hard not to enjoy yourself with a comfy lounge full of sofas, a huge well stocked bar with smiling staff and a courtyard surrounded by trees with open fireplace.  These nights are definitely ‘underground’ so don’t get too dressed up or expect to find them listed on the pages of ‘Beat’ or ‘Inpress’. There is no 2am lockout at the venue though so you can come at any point throughout the night (10pm til 7am) but the venue is quite small and intimate so get there early to ensure you can get in.

The BIG:RED:BUS crew want to make the night available to all and so refuse to charge more than $10 even though the quality of the entertainment should demand a much higher price.  The BIG:RED:BUS has always been about maximizing the experience whilst minimizing the impact on the planet. And whilst their outdoor stages have been powered by alternative and sustainable power sources such as solar and bio-diesel, their indoor events also echo the environmental message by promoting the use of bicycles (ride one to the event and get in for free), the use of ‘green’ power at the venue, incorporating energy saving strategies and equipment such as sensor activated and low wattage lighting, and recycled décor.
